Social Documentary | Visual Storytelling | Aftermovie

For the first edition of the A Outra Margem festival, I traveled to the North of Minas Gerais.
In the Januária I was invited to bridge two worlds: leading storytelling workshops for the local community while simultaneously acting as the festival’s primary documentarian. My mission was to capture the pulse of a region rich in customs, from the quiet dignity of traditional food fairs and debates to the raw energy of local musical performances and short-film screenings. The remote nature of the location meant working with restricted equipment, which challenged me to adapt and still deliver a professional aftermovie of the festival.

I lived among the people, immersing myself in the local culture to ensure the footage felt like a reflection of their reality rather than an outside observation. It was a journey of Authenticity, where limited resources were traded for creative connection.I integrated motion graphics to incorporate personal footage captured by the public. This fluid blend of textures brought a sincere, lived experience to the screen, transforming the final film into a strategic tool to foster regional tourism and preserve the unique cultural heritage of Januária.
